The 2021 Reform: What Changed?

The 2021 Bac reform fundamentally restructured how the final average is calculated. Under the new system, the terminal year examination no longer accounts for 100% of the grade. Instead, the average is split between:

• Continuous Assessment (40%): Grades accumulated throughout Première and Terminale, including standardised assessments (E3C/BAC BLANC) and school-based work.
• Written Final Exams (60%): Taken in June of the Terminale year, covering core subjects and the two chosen specialities.
• The Grand Oral: A unique cross-disciplinary oral defence with a coefficient of 10, contributing significantly to the final grade.
